…That is, I’m traveling to Normal, Illinois [map] to visit family. Normal is named after the “normal school,” or a teaching training institution, that existed there at the time of the town’s founding (since then, Normal University has been renamed Illinois State University).
I’ll only be away for a short while though (as if you’d even miss me!). But I do have some exciting news to leave you. On Tuesday, July 21st I will introduce a new feature, a daily posting called, “Caught on the Corner: the fascinating people and views on 14th and Irving Street.” This new daily feature will provide a photograph, with a short caption, that I have captured from inside my perch (i.e. from inside my 2nd floor apartment unit or occasionally from the roof of my apartment building), which is atop the corner of 14th and Irving Streets, N.W. [map] in the Columbia Heights neighborhood.
I have lived in this apartment for over a year now and the streetviews never fail to provide a wonderfully entertaining and interesting perspective on life below. Some of the images will have been taken over the course of the past year. Others I will take and post that same day. All should provide you with a little peek onto the street below. Upon seeing the images, feel free to laugh (inside and out), cry, feel happy, sad, or mad. And, of course, comment. Perhaps come up with a more creative caption, criticize the image selection, or let me know that you enjoy a particular shot.
And you never know…someday you may be among those that are “Caught on the Corner!”
Check back often to see the featured post. As well, I’ll post each daily post on the “Caught on the Corner” page.
